I'm helping someone who has just purchased this combo from us.

The problem is when the user runs the audio setup wizard (ASW) in Dragon (Dragon Professional 10.1 on a Vista 64 bit machine), sppech to noise ratio is in the 0 to 6 range and comes up with the error 'sound unnacceptable'.

Prior to this, the user had been using the headset that came with DNS connected to the mic in jack with good results apart from poor noise cancellation which was a problem for him in his very noisy office. Which is why he went for the Sennheiser ME3/Andrea USB-SA combo.

When he got his new microphone, he went ahead installed the software on the disc that comes with the Andrea sound card. Andrea support told me that it's not really necessary for speech recognition. It adds features such as graphic equalizer and sound boost and others which can actually be detrimental for speech recognition. So I asked the user to uninstall the Andrea software which is present as two lines in the Program & Features in Vista's Control Panel - the two entries removed were 'Andrea Electronics Audio Commander' and 'Andrea Electronics USB Audio'

I connected remotely to his PC today and made the following observations:-

Significant yellow spikes in the quality screen in the ASW - this sound card is famed for its low yellow noise floor but we weren't seeing that. The user made a windows sound recording with the Vista sound recorder. He said that the playback sounded OK but not that clear.

Went into Vista's sound dialogue panel, clicked on the recording tab and then clicked on the entry for the Andrea dongle. It said that the device was working OK. But oddly, it brought up an Andrea Array control with features like microphone boost, echo cancellation etc.

I got the user to unplug the Sennheiser/Andrea combo and go back to using his old headset plugged into the mic - in jack. This didn't work. The SoundMax audio card wouldn't let itself be made default.

The user told me he has had lots of technical problems on his 64 bit PC.

He was unable to try the combo on another PC.

It seems to me that there is some residual Andrea sound adapter software still 'active' despite the uninstallation and if so, I'm wondering if this is being detrimental somehow. Any thoughts, other things to try?

Advent monza v200 driver download. I called Andrea today and they told me that SoundMax sound cards use Andrea filters. Don't know if that's an issue?
